I was mesmerized by several “My Mechanics” videos this evening.

Until the recent decade or so, if you were very good at doing something, you had a few conventional options to make a living at it. You could likely market your skills for gainful employment or maybe become quite successful self-employed. You may even reach a point when you would be paid as a consultant, or enjoy the rare fortune of combining your expertise with a writing gift and flourish as an author. These options require incrementally challenging ancillary skills to increase your value in the marketplace.

Today, we are witnessing a phenomenon allowing artists to create and thrive like never before imagined. Today, an artist can hyper-focus on their speciality and directly monetize it. No longer courting patrons, or even needing to find buyers to purchase the final product — fire up YouTube on your browser and you are witnessing an infinite supply of creators earning income simply by broadcasting what they love to do.
