Today was my first day on a very restrictive diet. I’d heard about the carnivore diet, and have been interested to try it out for a bit. Then, Aldi had grass-fed ribeyes on sale for $9.99/#, so I jumped on it.
It’s been over 6 months since I began intermittent fasting, and I think there has been only one day that I haven’t gone 16–18 hours without eating — it’s been effortless. I’ve seen numerous benefits, without being overcautious about what I’m eating. I think being able to just say “wait” when I get hungry earlier in the day has put me in a position to have a successful go at this limiting diet.
In addition to meat, I will have seafood, raw milk, raw from our eggs, vegetables we grow, and fermented foods. If after a week or two I’m not experiencing results close to what I’ve been expecting, I may go full carnivore. The plan is to starve off my crazy sugar cravings, get in better shape, and then introduce ancestral foods, ultimately adhering to Weston A. Price Healthy Traditional Diet Guidelines.
So far, at the end of day one, I just feel groggy, and a little bit of a headache…
