The Productivity Superpower to Seek After
Whether it’s learning a new skill, writing a novel, composing a song, building software, or any other project requiring effort, time, and dedication, there is one ability I have come to believe is most important to foster:
The ability to keep plugging away, even when you are bored.
You’re going to hit a point when that next paragraph seems way too big to read, or you can’t think of a single word that fits in the next sentence you’re writing.
And there’s never been an easier time to give up work and give in to a distraction. In an instant you can open new tab on your browser, swipe away on your phone, or immerse yourself in a wall-size HD display.
Train yourself to stick to tasks for blocks of time, no matter how dull or what else your mind wants you to do. Close all the other tabs, put the phone on “do not disturb”, and don’t allow yourself to play Dominion until you get through your commitment. It gets easier.
