An easy first step toward starting your own business

--

Get a job.

Seriously. If there is an industry you are interested enough to launch your own business in, start by getting paid to understand it a little better.

You want to do something “totally different” and disruptive? Try getting a job in the closest available field, or the one you hope to make obsolete.

There is so much you learn with your feet on the ground, a perspective that can only be gained from the inside.

Not sure what kind of business to start? Get some jobs in areas that you are curious about. Maybe you’ll stumble on your bright idea. In the meantime, you’re going to need some cash, anyway.
