The Beauty of Low Expectations

Shout out to the license office.

Today, I planned ahead for needing to take care of a few things at City Hall. I brought a fresh cup of coffee, my laptop and e-reader, ready for hours of waiting.

To my pleasing astonishment, I was out of the property tax office in less than a half hour, and licensing called me up in less than five minutes. Unfortunately without the receipt for the trailer, I couldn’t get plates — my streak of never being able to accomplish what is needed in a single trip to the license office remains strong.

Had it taken 2 hours, I would have still been reasonably happy (and put up a post 5 hours sooner). Setting my expectations low, I was very happy and grateful that things went smoothly, a mindset I definitely needed for the rest of this day…
