That nomadic lifestyle isn’t for me.

Main reason: food.

And I don’t mean when I’m in other cities I miss my favorite St Louis food spots (though I do).

Being connected to what I eat is of most importance. I know where I’ve been getting my raw milk from for 10 years, we connect when eggs from our own chickens, Beth is growing more and more of our vegetables, and we’ll have a lot of perennial edibles before we know it.

Before The 4 Hour Workweek, and before blogging was much of a thing, I really wanted to travel the country on a motorcycle. I’d get sponsorships and write about the adventures in a website. I didn’t pursue that, though I think it would have been fun and successful.

As my values developed, I realized anything I wanted to contribute required place, and roots (both literally and figuratively), and regular dedication. It turns out, listening to these desires has meant everything, as one of my greatest joys has been watching our effect on our land, and communities.
