Software over hardware
Every year new chips and memory come out. Faster, more storage, increased multi-tasking. At what point is this a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist? The main problem seems to be the phone or computer someone has simply isn’t the newest anymore.
Think about your most useful technologies.
Gmail essentially worked just as well 15 years ago. Sending, receiving, searching, and filtering emails. Quickly and without anything in the way.
Telegram Messenger works well on a $50 phone, 5 year old Chromebook, and a Raspberry Pi. If you have a small business that has grown enough to need tools to help manage things, seriously consider building a bot over native apps.
Your Kindle reader has no horsepower, but does an incredible job of allowing you to access an infinite number of books at your fingertips.
Elegant software, that works beautifully well despite the hardware it runs on, should be the goal of any designer.
