Pruning
Late winter, early spring, it’s time to prune the peach trees. This was my second time cropping the two in our front yard, and it wasn’t any less surprising the second time how is taken off.
For a peach tree, you form it into a vase shape to capture maximum sun, and keep it close to the ground for easy picking. You might crop off half the plant at a time, enough to think there isn’t enough left to make it.
But removing shading and shaded branches ensure no wasted solar energy. Shorter limbs ensure they are not weighed down by too much fruit, and the reduced amount results in the remaining peaches getting bigger and sweeter.
What are your unproductive appendages? By removing them what will you be able to focus on, and to what end?
