“Never Give Advice”

A dear, late mentor of mine gave me this advice.

If you care about a friend, you want to see them improving their situation, becoming better and better versions of themselves every day. I intentionally surround myself with people who challenge me.

Maybe there are some other ways to help guide those you care about:

• Share your own experience with them — “this is what happened to me and how I handled it…”
• Lead by example.
• Listen, and help them talk themselves through their issue.
• Parables? Was that Jesus’s way of not giving direct advice?
