Measuring your mind
“What gets measured, gets managed,” is a widely shared* Peter Drucker-ism. As a business consultant, he’s essentially espousing the requirement to quantify areas of your operations you wish to refine.
Taking this counsel from an organizational to a personal level, the most important, and difficult, aspect of our selves to manage is our mind. Instead of reports, charts, graphs, polls, and inventories, we have an ancient tool for watching and taming our thoughts: meditation.
And by observing and taming our own consciousness, we’ll have a better understanding of what needs mastered in our world, and the strength to try.
* — For a simple and seemingly self-evident statement, it’s also hotly contested as a quick search instantly shows. (Or, it’s just such a popular quote, challenging it makes for good clickbait?)
