Looks like one of my favorite people just joined the daily blogging club.

One of my favorite guys, Derek Sivers, just began posting on his blog every day. This is a very good thing for everyone else.

I believe my first conscious exposure to Derek’s writing may have been reading his book, Anything You Want.

After learning of his entrepreneurial background, and founding of CD Baby, I remembered a friend using the service in the aughts and being absolutely delighted by the brilliant confirmation email they send out. It is a lesson for anyone in customer service (pretty much everyone who works, one way or another).

A remarkable thinker, and incredibly generous, he even replied to an email I sent him with a ton of great advice, specifically related to computer programming. It left an strong impression, as I even wrote some Ruby code today, about 5 years later.

About a week ago, he published a post that resonated so strongly with me. His realization that all his heroes are authors, led to re-prioritizing his life to allow himself to be a writer. Since that post, he hasn’t missed a day posting on his blog. This line of thinking is exactly what got me to commit to getting behind a keyboard, publishing some words every day, I’m excited to see someone I admire so much on the same journey.
