The first step to achieving freedom is establishing a livelihood not dependent on another person or organization’s whims. If saying something contrary to a boss could affect your ability to pay the mortgage, you don’t have freedom of speech. It’s important to earn unopinionated income.

Next, figure out how to earn a living doing what you love. It won’t be tempting to do something you don’t like solely for the sake of making money. Work your way out of unenjoyable income.
