The Independent Farmstead by Shawn & Beth Dougherty is the perfect book for right now.
If you have any interest in operating a small farm, read the Foreward and Introduction. This is as far as I’ve gotten so far. It’s getting me charged up in the same way that the book that kicked this all off for me almost 8 years ago did — You Can Farm by Joel Salatin, who also wrote the Dougherty’s foreward.
It seems like the perfect next read for me, as we are currently getting the Chicken Savannah established—rye, clover, and alfalfa now, and planning out the perennials. Also, every thing I’ve read from Chelsea Publishing has been a winner, so here goes.
